Help with materials

I am trying to use some Synty Studios models and materials in a project. I started by opening the sample scene that comes with the Synty Nature Pack. I then added the Needle Engine exporter object to the scene, and chose the default (Vite) template. Then I installed the project, and then opened it in the browser. All of the materials look weird, and some of the models, too, and I don’t have a sense of what to do to fix it.

Hi,

can you check which materials / shaders are being used by these assets? My guess is that they’re all using custom ShaderGraphs / Shaders and have vertex colors to drive e.g. wind simulation/movement or some other effect - what you see in the browser are probably the vertex colors driving those custom shaders.

We have a tool in the pipeline which would potentially help with that - could you share maybe a bit more about what you’re trying to achieve?

I want to be able to use the Synty Studios assets with as few modifications as possible. Yes, I do see a handful of custom shaders in the demo scene and in this asset pack. In this instance, I was trying to create an internal demo of some Everywhere Actions—specifically, moving the camera around in the scene—using the Demo Scene from the Synty Nature pack as an example.

When you say “we have a tool in the pipeline which would potentially help with that,” are you referring to MaterialX? Unfortunately, the Shaders do not appear to have been made with Unity’s Shader Editor.

Thats ok, I wasn’t referring to MaterialX.

We have a tool for baking PBR textures/materials but it’s not publicly available yet. Could you send a scene with some materials/assets as a bugreport so we can try it - if that works fine I think we can give you early access for the demo you’re working on.

Done!

Thanks, I think I’ll have some more info for you later / tomorrow.

Edit: I’ve sent you a DM
